Vacancy for NLR Air Transport Safety Institute - R&D engineer

Dynamic and socially relevant - this is what typifies the work in this pioneering, internationally focused air transport safety institute. Clients include airports, air traffic control organisations and aviation authorities. The work area is diverse and covers aspects such as operational and flight technical assessments, safety management, research in support of the development of safety regulations, security, air safety data analysis, and safety cases. The institute has several evaluation and simulation facilities, including an advanced modelling and evaluation environment for analysing the safety of operations and systems. You will participate in a broad range of national and international research projects and develop stochastic mathematical models for use in safety studies. In addition, you will help to acquire new contracts and in the future you will also act as a project manager.

Function requirements

• A university degree in Mathematics, preferably with a background in system theories
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams
• Good oral and written command of Dutch and English
